Kind Words

As a Cumbria & Lake District wedding photographer, I've worked at all different kinds of wedding venues, and as you can imagine in all sorts of weather! Your wedding can be one of the best days of your life and that's why it's so important to make sure you make the right decision when choosing a photographer.

I like to build a relationship with my couples before the wedding so you're completely relaxed when I'm around. This usually means meeting up before the wedding for a beer or a gin - I love gin! Or if I'm quite far away from you we can Skype. My approach to wedding photography will have you completely relaxed, not even knowing I'm even there as I unobtrusively capture your day allowing you to enjoy yourself with those that mean most to you.

Here are some kind words from previous brides & grooms that I'm very proud to share with you.

Jenni & Ben - Eden Wedding Barn - "We can’t recommend James highly enough. From our first meeting we loved his relaxed yet professional attitude. A huge amount of attention goes into even the smallest of details. He did an amazing job of our pre-wedding shoot and will go to any length just to get the perfect angle, he has loads of ideas to get really unique shots. Everyone in our bridal party loved having him around whilst getting ready, he just makes you feel so at ease, and many of our guests commented on how discreet he was throughout the day. He’s given us so many pictures to look back on of our day, and we love every single one. I’ve always been a big picture person, so finding the perfect photographer was very important to me, and we definitely made the right decision."

Emma & Richard - Storrs Hall - "This morning you have us lost for words, me crying happy tears into my coffee and the pair of us both late for work thanks to unbelievable photos. We cannot thank you enough. Our wedding day went so fast, it becomes a blur and you forget the detail of it. Your photos have brought it alive for us again.  We're so glad we chose you, you're so talented."

Vicky & Phil - High Barn - "As a newly married couple from Manchester we would highly recommended James Hicks photography. After deciding to tie the knot in the lake district, and being recommended James by a fellow photographer in the area we are so happy with our choice. James was easy to chat to right from the start about what we wanted from our photo’s and on the day made it such a natural experience. He captured all the group shots we wanted but also caught some memorable shots of family and friends, including our beloved dog and sent over some amazing shots not long after. James was easy to contact if needed in the lead up to the wedding meaning we didn’t have to worry in the slightest about this aspect of our day. James went above and beyond what we expected in our photographer and would definitely choose him again."

Leigh-Anne & Ian - The Villa Levens - "Seriously you are amazing! You put your heart and soul into getting all the shots we wanted and being creative to capture the most amazing pictures! You are so professional and love how you even helped the day to run as smooth as possible even though we were all out of sync with our timings. Everyone commented on how amazing they thought you were. You worked over and beyond the agreed times to make sure we got everything and negotiated some very drunk people to get into line for our sparkler arch. Literally the happiest couple in the world right now and happy that we found such an amazing photographer!"

Ashley & Dayne - Daffodil Hotel - "Well James what honestly can we say that sums up what an amazing photographer you were on our day!!!! The most, attentive, professional, immensely hard working, relaxed, genuinely wonderful and creative guy we could of ever had to take our pictures! You couldn't of possibly done any more than you did for us and everyone commented on how fantastic you were. We absolutely hate having our photos taken and it was all done with laughter and at great ease! Thank you so much."
